Our Legacy

Hulsman1.jpg

Set against Diamond Mountain, approximately seven miles south of Susanville in Lassen County, the Hulsman Ranch stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of family farmers in California. The owner’s great-grandfather acquired the property from Peter Lassen’s estate in 1862, and it has remained in the family ever since. It has been owned and operated by women since 1914.

We have devoted our lives to the craft of raising animals and stewarding the land. We believe that the quality of our beef reflects that dedication.

Compassionate Practices

By allowing our cattle to roam and forage in open spaces, we ensure that they lead a natural and healthy life. Our commitment to compassionate practices extends to every aspect of our operation, and we are proud to offer meat products that are not only delicious but also ethically and sustainably produced.

Environmental Stewardship

We are dedicated to sustainable agriculture and the preservation of our planet. We advocate for the enhancement of soil fertility through the promotion of biodiversity using sustainable, native methods. We refrain from using synthetic fertilizers and plowing, choosing instead to maintain our landscape through grazing.
